Burning Life

September 30th, 2008

Okay, the lag is TERRIBLE and things are incredibly SLOW to rez but WOW!!!! You could spend  every waking moment of the entire festival checking out the builds and still not see all there is to see. I freely admit I’m a Burning Life noob. I’m finding the variety and scope of the builds mind boggling. Political statements stand beside art installations, party spots beside educational creations, everything from Seuss to Freud is covered.  All this and I haven’t even seen the entire thing yet lol.

I strongly urge you to take a look. Bring up your map and type in Burning Life. When the map comes up pick a spot on the outer edges to start, then travel in any pattern you want. I’ve found it harder to move the closer to the middle I get. Maybe you’ll have better luck. Oh, and don’t forget to drop by our friends, the InfoGroupies’ site on Burning Life (Road Kill). You have never seen SL seniors like these.

Bradburyville

September 26th, 2008

Whether you are a fan of Ray Bradbury or not you have undoubtedly read one of his many works. Many of his writings have been adapted for t.v. and film such as The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451. The Ray Bradbury Theatre was enjoyed by North American audiences for several years during the 80’s and 90’s. Now some of the worlds of Ray Bradbury are available in Second Life at Bradburyville. Have fun on the carousel and make sure you stop by the Bradbury museum to find out more about this facinating man.

Professor Tom Boellstorff

September 23rd, 2008

If you get the chance to hear Professor Boellstorff speak I encourage you to do so. He is excellent! I was luck enough to attend one of the first speaking engagements about his book Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtual Human which is available on Amazon. The conversation was facinating and I found I kept rolling the ideas around for many days after.

You can find out more about  Professor Tom Boellstorff and his work here
